Kai Havertz just produced the best goal of his Chelsea career - we've broken the replay button

Kai Havertz has restored Chelsea's lead against RB Salzburg in this evening's Champions League Group E clash with a spectacular effort.

Graham Potter's side took the lead in the first half through Mateo Kovacic, before Junior Adamu equalised three minutes after the break.

Chelsea nearly bounced back immediately through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kovacic but a young Salzburg team weathered the storm.

That is until the 64th minute, when Havertz produced something spectacular.

Christian Pulisic laid the ball off to Havertz, who took one touch with his left foot. The Germany international then let rip with a stunning effort which crashed in off the bar.

Salzburg goalkeeper Philipp Kohn was rooted to the spot as Havertz celebrated as coolly as you'd like.

Potter was on the touchline with Blues midfielder Mason Mount, with both men letting out a huge smile.

Check out the strike below. What a hit.

It's Havertz's third goal of a disappointing season, which has already seen Chelsea sack Thomas Tuchel.

Fans are loving his performance this evening however with many praising the 23-year-old old on social media.

Another commented: "Mount and Potter's reaction to that goal was priceless."

A third tweeted: "Kai Havertz. That goal was sensational."

While someone put: "Incredible technique with his left foot."

Havertz joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 after a promising few years in the Bundesliga.

Initially a midfielder, Havertz slowly transitioned into a false nine under Thomas Tuchel. He scored the winner in the 2021 Champions League final but never became a clinical goalscorer.

Romelu Lukaku failed to meet expectations after moving from Inter Milan in 2021, meaning the burden once again fell on Havertz. Lukaku has since returned to Inter on loan.

The arrivals of Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer transfer window have allowed Havertz to operate out wide this term.

Victory for Chelsea will see them qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.
