John Stones goes viral with moment you might have missed during FA Cup final

John Stones produced an outrageous piece of skill in Manchester City's FA Cup final victory over Manchester United that got missed by many.

John Stones has gone viral after a shrewd piece of skill in Manchester City's FA Cup final victory over Manchester United was missed by many.

The Cityzens lifted their second trophy of the season on Saturday as an Ilkay Gundogan brace either side of half-time sandwiched a Bruno Fernandes penalty to hand pep Guardiola's side a major victory over their fierce rivals.

Gundogan's first goal was also recorded as the fastest goal in FA Cup final history and the second-fastest at the new Wembley after breaking the deadlock after just 13 seconds.

However, whilst the German stole the headlines once again, adding to his excellent end-of-season form, many missed an outrageous piece of skill from defender Stones.

The England international collected the ball from goalkeeper Stefan Ortega and looked as though he may have taken a slightly heavy touch with Marcus Rashford lurking nearby.

Instead, as it appeared he was headed towards his own goal, the 29-year-old produced an excellent turn past his Three Lions teammate and carried the ball into midfield to set up a City attack.

Stones has been one of the most underrated players in the Premier League this term, often being deployed in a new deep midfield role as Guardiola looks to develop the 29-year-old's game.

And that piece of skill certainly showed some of his development this year, with fans taking to social media to applaud the Englishman.

One supporter tweeted: "Got off my seat to applaud" whilst another said: "at some point in the game couldn't tell stones and kdb apart."

A third added: "Outrageous player never gives the ball away."

A fourth posted: "I see some Busquets DNA here", with a fifth saying: "Then you hear English pundits say 'Pep always inherit good players', lol Pep makes these players great."

Since joining City from Everton in 2016 for £50million, Stones has gone from strength to strength and now has the opportunity to add a Champions League title to his impressive trophy cabinet.

The Sky Blues are strong favourites to lift Europe's elite prize on Saturday as they take on Inter Milan in Istanbul, hoping to win their first Champions League as well as completing a historic treble.
