Man Utd and Arsenal target set to leave club in January after "complete breakdown" with manager

Manchester United and Arsenal target Joao Felix is set to leave Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United and Arsenal target Joao Felix is set to leave Atletico Madrid after a “complete breakdown” in the relationship with his manager.

The 23-year-old has started just five of 14 La Liga matches for the Colchoneros, having fallen out of favour despite netting four times in his limited game time.

Felix, who is currently representing Portugal at the World Cup, moved to Atleti for a massive £113million fee in 2019.

Despite having since struggled for game time, the player has been involved in 51 goals in his 129 games at Atletico.

The Portugal star could be an ideal option for Man Utd, who last week parted ways with star striker Cristiano Ronaldo. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also believed to be interested in Felix’s services.

“Complete breakdown”

Marca has claimed there has been a “complete breakdown” in Felix’s relationship with Atleti manager Diego Simeone.

The publication has alleged that Felix has asked his agent to find him a new club in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also suggested there are tensions between Simeone and Felix, though insists the player has not asked to leave the Metropolitano.

Romano told Caught Offside: “Joao Felix is a special talent, but we know his situation with Atletico Madrid has not been easy.

“He’s had a good relationship with the club and the fans, but there are tensions with Diego Simeone. This is why he’s now open to leaving Atletico Madrid in 2023 – we’ll see if it’s in January or in the summer.

“It’s not true that Felix has asked to leave, but he’s open to a move. Atletico Madrid invested a lot of money in the young forward, so the board still want to protect the player and see if he can make it at the club.

“It also means the next club will have to make an important offer to persuade them to sell Felix.”

Man Utd have been strongly linked with the player since the summer. Meanwhile, according to Twitter in the know DarrenArsenal1 Arsenal have twice tried to sign João Félix on loan with a view to a transfer.

Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also said to be keen on the Portugal forward.
