James Maddison is currently carrying Leicester vs Spurs and everyone's saying the same thing

James Maddison is currently carrying Leicester City against Tottenham Hotspur - with many questioning why Gareth Southgate didn't include the midfielder in his latest England squad.

Despite Leicester's poor start to the season, Maddison has still managed to stand out with a string of fine performances.

He continued that at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening with a lovely volleyed effort.

Timothy Castagne bullied Ryan Sessegnon out wide before whipping a ball in for Maddison. The 25-year-old took it first time and it spun in off the post.

Leicester are currently losing the game 3-2 but many believe Maddison is in a league of his own.

Maddison has scored three goals and and registered one assist in six games this season, with 11 goal contributions in his last 10 overall.

His sole England appearance came in 2019 and Southgate once again left him out of the squad for UEFA Nations League games against Italy and Germany later this month.

It's a decision many questioned at the time and after his performance this evening, you can understand why.

One person commented: "What more does Maddison have to do to be in the England squad?"

Another said: "James Maddison single handedly carrying Leicester this season then. Not sure what more he has to do to get an England call up."

A third tweeted: "Maybe the most technically gifted midfielder we have?"

While someone said: "How is Gareth Southgate not seeing what the rest of us do?"

Leicester are currently bottom of the Premier League and winless, but took the lead inside six minutes through a Youri Tielemans penalty.

Hugo Lloris saved the first spot kick but it was retaken after he stepped off his goal line. Tielemans made no mistake the second time and fired home with conviction.

Spurs were level two minutes later after Harry Kane got his head on a lovely Dejan Kulusevski cross.

Eric Dier scored his second of the campaign in the 21st minute to put Antonio Conte's men ahead, before Maddison's strike levelled the scores once again.

Two minutes after the break, a Wilfried Ndidi error allowed Rodrigo Bentancur to stride forward and slot past Danny Ward to restore Spurs' advantage.
