An emotional Hector Bellerin was in tears after playing his final home game for Real Betis before returning to parent club Arsenal – and his Betis teammates are now trying to set-up a crowdfunding campaign to help keep him.

The Spanish full-back, who joined Los Verdiblancos on a season-long loan deal in August, has been an Arsenal player for a decade after joining the Premier League club from Barcelona when he was just 17-years-old.

He has made 239 first-team appearances for the Gunners and has even captained the team during his stay. But the defender has clearly enjoyed his stay at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

I mean, just look at the scenes after their last game against Granada.

Bellerin’s teammate, Borja Iglesias, has even suggested the idea of a crowdfunding campaign to secure the permanent signing of the 27-year-old right-back.

He took to Twitter to make his feelings clear. "Hey! Do we open crowdfunding so that @HectorBellerin stays?"

Whether or not Bellerin will stay in Andalusia beyond his current loan deal is unclear but the Spaniard wants his loan switch from Arsenal to be made permanent, according to The Mirror.

Bellerin's father is a huge fan of Real Betis and after he joined the club on loan in August, the full-back said he was delighted to "make his father's dream come true".

“Being able to make my father happy with a dream that is his, and fulfilling it for him, makes me very excited,” Bellerin said.

“It is a feeling my father has instilled since I was little. As a child I was a bit of a turncoat, but he forced me to wear the Betis shirt.”

As you can see in the clip below, an emotional Bellerin embraced his father, Pepe, following Betis' recent 2-0 win against Granada.

Do you think Hector Bellerin has a chance of breaking into the Arsenal team next season? Or should Manuel Pellegrini's side snap him up on a permanent deal?

Let us know in the comments.
