"He needs to leave" - Chelsea star told to force through move to Man Utd in January

Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech has been told to force through a move to Manchester United in January.

Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech has been told to force through a move to Manchester United in January.

The 29-year-old has starred for Morocco in Qatar, helping his national side past Spain in the World Cup round of 16. The Atlas Lions have been the tournament’s surprise package and will become the first-ever African semi-finalists if they get past Portugal on Saturday.

At club level, Ziyech has failed to have quite the same influence. The attacker has netted just 14 goals in 92 appearances for Chelsea since making his £33million move from Ajax two years ago.

This term Ziyech has started just one Premier League game. Given his lack of game-time, the Morocco international is expected to leave the Blues in January with a move to Serie A seemingly on the cards.

However former Morocco midfielder Mustafa El Haddaoui insisted Ziyech should instead look to another Premier League club.

Ziyech to Man Utd?

El Haddaoui claimed Ziyech should look to join United and reunite with his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

Speaking to Stats Perform, via Corriere dello Sport the 61-year-old said: “Now we’re seeing his potential, we can see what he’s capable of, but now he has a lot of offer.

“He needs to leave Chelsea and go to Manchester United, because the former Ajax manager wanted him.

“He will bounce back, but now he needs to leave during the winter transfer market.”

Ziyech was a mainstay in the Ajax team during his spell in Amsterdam between 2016 and 2020, where he scored 49 goals in 165 games. It was his performances under ten Hag that saw the midfielder attract interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.

Moreover, since the acrimonious departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from the Old Trafford club, United have been in the market for attackers.
