It's been a weird old season for Dimitri Payet. The Frenchman began the campaign as a West Ham hero, rabona'ing assists to his teammates. Months later he would become a pariah in East London for forcing a move away from the Hammers and now? Well it looks as though the 29-year-old may be rediscovering top form.
Payet returned to l'OM in January and, although the Ligue 1 giants haven't been enjoying their best run of form, their £25m man has found the net a couple of times since he arrived back in the South of France. And today against Lorient, the playmaker provided a vintage moment of real quality, doubling l'OM's head in the process.
At least Payet is now receiving a warm welcome from his club's fans, after West Ham supporters saw him off with this chant...

When a corner was whipped into Lorient's box from the right hand side, Payet produced a sublime first touch and, with the ball dropping behind him and defenders closing in, the former West Ham man audaciously lobbed the ball over both the opposition defence and goalkeeper.

Payet has now been directly involved in 40 goals in 78 Ligue 1 games for Marseille, scoring 17 times and laying on 23 assists.

The French international will be hoping the goal can mark a reversal in fortunes for him since returning to the Stade Velodrome, as his first five games ended with three defeats, one goal and zero assists.
