Lionel Messi brought up his 50th goal of 2019 with a stunning striker against Alaves, as Barcelona took their lead over Real Madrid to three points.
For the ninth time in his career Messi made it 50 goals in a calendar year with his goal on Saturday afternoon. In typically brilliant fashion the forward took on the defence, found himself surrounded by five opposition players, and curled his shot brilliantly past the keeper from outside the area.
The nice strike in the 69th minute all but secured the three points for Ernesto Valvede's team against Alaves, before Luis Suarez scored a late penalty.

Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring after 14 goals before Arturo Vidal doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime. The visitors pulled one back through Pere Pons before Messi and Suarez rounded things off.
Barca have not been in great form this season and had a rocky start to the campaign whilst the six time Ballon d'Or winner was injured.
The club's all time top goalscorer has already bagged 13 goals in 13 games in La Liga this season to help take the Spanish champions back to the top of the table, despite the poor form.
