There was a time when I was at university, for the short period I actually went, that Pro Evo was the number one football game. That's probably not the case any more and there's been a further blow to the series.
When I first started playing football games FIFA was king but soon after Pro Evo was the game that everyone was playing in halls. That didn't last too long before EA took their crown back.
Last month Konami revealed details about the latest edition of the game coming out later this year and announced Philippe Coutinho as this year's cover star:
Also they announced a special pre-order edition that will include a modern version of David Beckham in the game and anything that has Becks has got to be good.

Unfortunately they confirmed earlier in the year that they would be losing the licence for the Champions League with all its logos and the wonderful song going from the game.
Now though they've confirmed that they've lost the licence for Borussia Dortmund a year early with a statement from Konami confirming the news:
"KONAMI and Borussia Dortmund had a license agreement with respect to the use of Borussia Dortmund's logos, players, stadium and other features in KONAMI products until June 2020.
"However this agreement was prematurely terminated by Borussia Dortmund. KONAMI will not include Borussia Dortmund's logos, players, stadium and other features in PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2019."
Dortmund were the only of the Bundesliga side who Pro Evo had the licence for and they were used in some of the original promotional videos so clearly the game makers weren't expecting this news.
