Sunday League stuff!

There was an incident that wouldn't have been out of place in Sunday League in the game between SønderjyskE and FC Midtjylland in the Danish top flight yesterday.

SønderjyskE picked up the win courtesy of a late goal from substitute Philip Zinckernagel but the absolute highlight of the game involved Midtjylland's goalkeeper Johan Dahlin.

At one point in the game the keeper took a goal-kick but unbelievably the power and force of winds meant the ball went straight back to him and with players pressuring him, he elected to use his hands to pick up the ball.

But of course he effectively passed to himself which meant the referee was well within his rights to award an indirect free-kick to the home side. No goal followed from the free-kick, which would have been even more embarrassing but Dahlin and the wind still provided us with a classic comedy gaffe that we're all probably used to seeing at 10 O'Clock on a Sunday on the worst pitch ever, not in a top competitive league in Europe.

The Swede felt incredibly hard done by, but rules are rules at the end of the day.
