Frenkie de Jong has received a stunning £15.4 million-a-year offer to leave Barcelona ahead of transfer deadline day.

De Jong has dominated headlines throughout the summer transfer window, having been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.

But, as of now, Erik ten Hag has failed in his pursuit of his former midfielder.

Bayern Munich had also expressed an interest in De Jong, not to mention Chelsea who appear to be keen on landing the star player ahead of Thursday's deadline.

According to Gerard Romero, the Blues have offered De Jong a net salary of £15.4 million.

The reported offer from Chelsea comes after De Jong was caught taking a flight to London.

Thomas Tuchel appears to be still keen on reinforcing his squad following the additions of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, among others.

De Jong has played in each of Barca's three La Liga games this season, but was a substitute in his side's most recent win over Real Valladolid last weekend.

Speaking earlier this month, Xavi insisted the 25-year-old will be an 'important player' for the club.

"De Jong is not a substitute," he said after the game against Rayo Vallecano.

"He’s an important player and I have said that many times. I don’t know what will happen, but if he stays he will continue to be important."

Will De Jong secure a switch to the Premier League before the window slams shut? Watch this space.
