Chelsea legend and former manager Frank Lampard’s return to the club has fans buzzing with the prospect of him halting Arsenal’s title charge.

The Stamford Bridge icon managed the club between 2019 and 2021, reaching the FA Cup final in his first season as Blues boss.

With Graham Potter’s failure to pick up results as Chelsea manager, club chiefs Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali will hope that ‘Super Frank’ can work his magic in this interim spell until the end of the season.

The belief from Boehly and Eghbali in Lampard’s abilities is clear from their statement, announcing his arrival.

“We want to give ourselves every chance of success and Frank has all of the characteristics and qualities we need to drive us to the finish line,” said co-owner Boehly.

Chelsea fans have welcomed Lampard’s return and are highly optimistic that the former England international can inspire them to success for the rest of the season, denting rival club Arsenal’s title challenge in the process.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “ 29th of April 2023. Lampard ruining Arsenal’s title hopes.”

Several fans have pointed to Lampard’s 2-1 victory over Arteta in his first season, with hopes that he can inspire the same result when they face the Gunners in the final stretch of the season.

Another Blues fan account wrote: “April 29, 2023. Arsenal (a) Frank Lampard’s Chelsea ends Arsenal’s title challenge. Embrace it. “

One Chelsea fan also pointed to Chelsea’s history of halting title charges in the past, drawing 2-2 against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge under then interim manager Guus Hiddink.

He said: “10th the year we stopped Spurs from winning the title under a caretaker. Lampard to do the same against Arsenal.”

Lastly, one Manchester City fan decided to join the party and welcomed Lampard’s appointment.

He tweeted: “City legend Lampard to beat Arsenal helping City to win the title.”
