The pair have both been unhappy this season for different reasons.

Being a footballer in Europe over Christmas is a pretty easy job, not that it's usually difficult, with the winter break comes a time to relax and enjoy yourself. But as we all know going back into work is an utter bitch, as it proved to be for Edinson Cavani and Javier Pastore.

This time of the year is the busiest in the calendar for English football teams, there's cames on Boxing Day, New Years Day, everyday in between and then just as it's all finishing it's the FA Cup third round.

Meanwhile our continental cousins, although we're in the middle of a bit of a fight with a lots of them they're still cousins, take a bit of a footballing break and let their players have some Christmas cheer.

Of course there's always the problem that players could take their break a bit too seriously and over do it on the mince pies but as long as they're back in training all should be good.

Well that's been a bit of a problem for PSG pair Javier Pastore and Edinson Cavani who, according to RMC, both missed the Parisians return to training on Wednesday afternoon with the club now looking into potentially punishing them.

Pastore's absence is apparently completely unexplained although RMC do say it's his tactic to try and force a move away from the French capital as he wants more first team football.

Manager Unai Emery and sporting director Antero Henrique, who both players will have to meet to explain why they weren't at training, want to keep the former Palermo player but if he stops coming to training they may change their minds.

It's a bold tactic if that's actually what he wants to try.

Cavani reportedly had family issues and didn't get back to Paris till later than expected but has apparently arrived back in the city without returning to training. There is also talk of the Uruguayan suffering from homesickness.

The former Napoli forward had issues with new arrival Neymar earlier in the season but all has seemed quite good in recent times and he could yet overtake Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the club's leading all time top scorer.

See, a Christmas break isn't perfect either!
