Former Chelsea player Charly Musonda has bizarrely gone AWOL at new club Zulte Waregem, according to reports.

The 25-year-old's 10-year spell at Stamford Bridge came to an end this summer, with the top flight Belgian club snapping him up on a free transfer following his release.

He had loan spells at Real Betis, Celtic and Vitesse before leaving Chelsea as a free agent.

Zulte Waregem offered the player a career lifeline by handing him a contract after impressing in a training session and trial match.

However, mysteriously - Musonda failed to report for training after the contact offer.

The Belgian team, though, initially claimed that his absence was due to a family issue and insisted that he would return to sign for them, per The Sun.

But they have now admitted they have 'no idea' where their new player is.

His future now appears to be clouded with uncertainty after his strange disappearance.

Eddy Cordier, the club's chief executive, has 'no idea' about Musonda's whereabouts - claiming the player has not spoken to anyone in weeks.

"When will Charly Musonda return to training? I don't know," he said.

"Will he ever come back? No idea.

"I don't know whether we will pull the plug on him because he hasn't been in since he trained a couple of weeks ago and there has been no contact.

"It's more important that we concentrate on the group of players who are here at the club for pre-season."
