How much Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are paying the Wrexham squad has been compared to other teams.

Wrexham recorded a huge win over Forest Green Rovers on Saturday afternoon as goals from Elliot Lee, Paul Mullin, Ryan Barnett, Jack Marriott and an own goal by Ryan Inniss sealed a 6-0 win and their passage to the third tier of English football.

Next season will be Wrexham’s first season in League One for 19 years.

Since 2020, Wrexham have been backed by Hollywood duo Reynolds and McElhenney, who have already pumped a lot of money into the club.

Aside from the club, the pair have also invested in the town and community and are now planning to redevelop the Racecourse Ground.

Now, it has been revealed that Wrexham have the biggest wage bill in the whole of League Two this season, at around £170,00 per week.

As reported by Wales Online, the average weekly wage in League Two hovers around £58,000.

Comparing those figures to League One, Wrexham would also have one of the highest wage bills in the division.

Only five clubs in the third tier have spent more than the Red Dragons on wages this season.

Currently, midfielder George Evans is believed to be the club’s highest-paid player, taking home reportedly £7,200 per week.

After Evans, star striker Paul Mullin is next, earning a reported weekly wage of £4,500.

This season, Wrexham saw their total payroll increase from last year’s £4.05 million to £6.91 million.

Reacting to the team’s promotion, manager Phil Parkinson said: “I'm immensely proud of the lads today because, when it mattered most, we've put in our two best performances of the season.

“It's a great achievement for everybody connected with the club. There is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes.”

On social media, Reynolds wrote: “A few years ago, if you told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney.

“Congrats to Wrexham and to my co-chairman in crime. Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives.”
