Wrexham accidentally left St Andrew's without a key member of their playing squad after last week's 3-1 defeat to League One rivals Birmingham City.

It was a game dubbed the "Hollywood derby" ahead of kick-off and it certainly delivered in the entertainment stakes as Tom Brady won bragging rights over Wrexham pair Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Brady, a minority owner of Birmingham City, was present at the games alongside Reynolds, McElhenney and David Beckham, who was blown away by the atmosphere inside St Andrew's.

“It was great last night," Beckham told CBS Sports. "The atmosphere was amazing. I’ve not seen an atmosphere like that for a long time. Birmingham and Wrexham fans were incredible.”

Wrexham took an early lead through Jack Marriott, who opened the scoring with just three minutes on the clock.

But club-record signing Jay Stansfield netted a brace for Chris Davies' side before Japan international Tomoki Iwata scored a third to close the gap at the League One summit.

It was a heartbreaking result for the visitors and in a recent interview, Wrexham winger James McClean has opened up on the post-match fall out.

Speaking at The Fozcast Live event, McClean was asked if the Wrexham team bus accidentally left behind midfielder George Dobson after last week's defeat.

"It's true!" he said. "He was doing the drug test after the game. Our heads were scrambled and we just kind of left him."

At the same event, McClean revealed how much Wrexham paid for club-record signing Mo Faal.

Faal, who signed from West Brom for an undisclosed fee having enjoyed strong loan spells at Doncaster Rovers and Walsall last season, was one of nine players brought to the League One club this summer.

He opened his account against Fleetwood Town in their 2-1 defeat last month and has so far made two appearances for his new side.

And according to McClean, the talented Gambian cost the club in the region of £590,000.
