Spurs striker Richarlison was in tears after missing sitter for Brazil

Richarlison missed a huge chance in Brazil's win over Bolivia and was full of emotion on the bench.

Spurs striker Richarlison was seen in tears after missing a sitter for Brazil against Bolivia on Friday night.

The Selecao ran out 5-1 winners in the World Cup qualifier, with Neymar and Rodrygo both bagging braces and Raphinha also getting on the scoresheet.

One man who failed to find the net was Richarlison, whose struggles in front of goal continued.

The former Everton and Watford man opened his account for the new season in a Carabao Cup defeat to Fulham but it was just his second goal for club and country in 2023.

He had a golden opportunity to finally bag for Brazil at Mangueirao when the South American giants were 2-0 up but got it all wrong.

Richarlison had displayed a remarkable bit of skill to swivel and send an onrushing defender to the shops but his finish was wayward as he blazed the ball over the bar and into 'Row Z'.

Not long after, the 26-year-old, who had a SofaScore rating of 6.1, was hooked and replaced by Wolves striker Mateus Cunha.

And when the camera panned to him on the bench later on when Brazil were leading 4-1, his eyes were red and tears flowed down his face.

While he was firing during the World Cup back in Qatar, Richarlison scored just three goals in all competitions for Spurs after his £60 million move last term.

He's clearly bereft of confidence but Brazil interim boss Fernando Deniz has reiterated his faith in him.

"I like being in the right place to help," he said, as per Terra.

"Richarlison won the affection of his teammates and the crowd, who welcomed him on the way out, applauding him. He awakens that feeling of affection in everyone. And he is a great player. I will do everything for Richarlison. Keep calm, because the goals will soon go in."

Brazil are back in action on Wednesday when they take on Peru in Lima.
