James Maddison had the perfect response to a chant from Bournemouth fans in Spurs' 2-0 win at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou's side built on last season's brilliant win over Manchester United, with Maddison bagging the opener and Dejan Kulusevski securing the three points in the second half.

It continued Spurs' unbeaten start to the season and Maddison, wearing the No.10 shirt after Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich, was at the heart of everything.

The former Leicester City man is one of the league's top creators but he's also one of the top personalities in the division and always refreshing to listen to in interviews.

And when it comes to opposition fans, Maddison knows how to rile them up. Bournemouth were giving it the 26-year-old when he came over to take a corner, chanting, 'Southgate's right, you're f***ing s****!" in reference to the England boss.

But he played it perfectly, moving the ball outside the quadrant and prokoving a furious reaction from the home supporters.

Maddison displayed a cheeky smirk and posted a video of the exchange on his TikTok, complete with the caption, "Too easy" with a fish emoji after his baiting job.

He might just be playing his way into the England starting eleven going into the next international break after an excellent start to life at Spurs.

And he's already enjoying taking on a big role at Spurs following on from Kane's move.

“The type of person I am, I’m at my best when I have responsibility on my shoulders and that’s when I thrive," he told BBC Match of the Day.

“I am a player who loves to be on the ball and that fits with how the manager wants his players to play. This was a good day for all that.

“We’ve got the bit between our teeth. We have some momentum so long may that continue and hopefully we can still implement the final steps the gaffer wants to see, which is attacking football.”

Next up for Spurs is the Carabao Cup tie with Fulham on Tuesday, before they travel to Burnley on September 2.
