A source has suggested that Thomas Tuchel could return to Premier League management following the 2026 World Cup.
Tuchel, 52, was unveiled as England coach in the autumn of 2024 and is currently under contract as Three Lions boss until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
And it’s a case of so far so good barring a blip against Senegal back in June, as Tuchel’s England have secured six victories in just seven games, with the most recent coming against Wales at Wembley on Thursday.
Tuchel’s objective as England manager is simple: win the World Cup. His future will likely depend on the result of next summer’s tournament in North America.

Of course, the role is the German’s first in international management, having previously managed Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain at club level.
And for now, at least, the 52-year-old will have full undivided attention on England and guiding them to a first World Cup since 1966. However, one source has suggested that he is “not particularly enjoying” the job despite appearing content in his interviews.

Former Chelsea, Benfica and West Ham United left-back-turned-pundit Scott Minto made the claim during an appearance on talkSPORT and suggested that Tuchel could replace a currently under-pressure Premier League manager after the World Cup.

Minto said he “personally thinks Ruben Amorim will last until the end of the season” at Manchester United before Tuchel takes over.
Of course, Amorim, 40, has endured a torrid time at United since taking over from Erik ten Hag on November 1, 2024, and currently sports a poor record of 19 wins, 12 draws and 19 losses in 50 games as head coach.
The Portuguese has yet to oversee consecutive victories since arriving at Old Trafford.
And despite the seeming constant scrutiny on Amorim and reports that his job could be under threat if his side’s poor form continues, co-owner Jim Ratcliffe backed the 40-year-old earlier this week.

Speaking on The Times’ Business Podcast, Ratcliffe claimed that Amorim needs three years to prove he's a “great” coach.

"He has not had the best of seasons," said Ratcliffe.
"Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years. That's where I would be."

The 72-year-old INEOS founder then homed in on the British media’s coverage of the club and suggested that “the press” want “overnight success” and “think it’s like a light switch”.
United return to Premier League action against Liverpool at Anfield following the conclusion of the October international break.
Thomas Tuchel’s feelings on Man Utd
So, given the tentative links with Tuchel, some fans will be keen to learn what the German has previously said about United.

And it’s fair to say he respects the Red Devils, something that was apparent when he spoke ahead of Bayern’s visit to Old Trafford in 2023.
Tuchel described United as “dangerous” and claimed they have a “certain aura and mentality” helped by the Old Trafford crowd.
"For me personally, a game in Manchester United is always a big game. It cannot be described in any other way,” said the German.
"It [Old Trafford] is one of the biggest stages in football. It has a certain aura and electricity around it. When they are good, they are really, really good and very dangerous in all positions."
