Sydney Sweeney Was Inundated With DMs From Prem Stars As Details ‘Leaked’

American Actress Sydney Sweeney was previously inundated with messages from Premier League footballers before it emerged that she is reportedly dating a former Chelsea winger.

Sweeney, 28, is best known for her performances in ‘The Housemaid’, ‘Sharp Objects’ and ‘Euphoria’, and is widely regarded as one of the most popular film stars of the last five years.

Aside from her exploits on the silver screen, the Washington-born film star’s personal life is often under the microscope with fans and the media wanting to know the ins and outs of the 28-year-old’s dating history.

A previous report from The Sun claimed that several celebrities, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool players, slid into her DMs following her split from fiancé Jonathan Davino earlier in 2025.

Sweeney and businessman/producer Davino first dated in 2018 and were engaged in 2022 before calling time on their romance in January.

The actress confirmed the pair’s split in an interview with The Times back in May, and when asked if she was planning a wedding, she responded with a blunt “no”.

“I’m learning a lot about myself, spending more time with my friends. And I’m loving it,” Sweeney added.

But according to one source who spoke to The Sun, this did not deter some footballers offering her “trips to Europe” as a way of impressing the newly single actress.

“Some of them are very insistent and have even tried to find her address to send her flowers, but she always refuses,” the source claimed.

“I’d say more than 100 people, from celebs to millionaires or very rich people from the Middle East and Asia, contact her every month.”

The source also suggested that some have “crossed the line” and, as a result, were “quickly blocked”, while other players took a polite, respectful approach when messaging her.

But, many celebrities and footballers may be disappointed to learn that Sweeney is now reportedly dating AC Milan and USMNT winger Christian Pulisic.

According to Italian news outlet Gazzetta, there are rumours that the former Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund man is dating Sweeney, although both have yet to confirm whether they are, in fact, in a relationship or even getting to know each other.

Pulisic is one of the most well-known American footballers of all time and will play a leading role in the USMNT’s 2026 World Cup campaign, which will take place across North America.

The Pennsylvania-born footballer currently boasts 82 caps for his country, having made his international debut back in 2016.

Pulisic has also been voted U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year four times - in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023.
