Tottenham Hotspur have been busy in the transfer market this summer as Roberto De Zerbi aims to build a squad to his liking to ensure they can qualify for the Champions League and even launch an unlikely title challenge in the Premier League this campaign.
This has seen the North London club spend heavily, as they have brought Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali for over £200 million, with the club expected to sign Man City duo Savinho and Omar Marmoush for a combined £140 million.
Spurs and De Zerbi are still keen to add one more attacker to the squad; however, as the transfer deadline edges closer every day, their final target may not be brought to White Hart Lane.
Spurs hit with 'radio silence' over transfer talks
Now, according to Voetbal International journalist Joost Blaauwhof, Spurs are struggling to acquire Cody Gakpo, as he claimed on X, formerly Twitter, that there is ‘radio silence’ between Liverpool and their Premier League rivals.
It is believed that the London club have offered the Reds €69 million for the Dutch international, but the 20-time English top-flight champions may be holding out for a better offer, having seen the money being spent on the Man City players.

Blaauwhof writes: "For now, radio silence between Liverpool and Spurs regarding Cody Gakpo.
"As long as Bradley Barcola isn't at Anfield, the chance of a deal for Tottenham seems nil. All parties know where they stand. If the Frenchman arrives, it will be up to the Oranje forward."
While it is also possible that Liverpool are waiting to see if they can reach agreements for their targets before allowing Gakpo to leave the club, so they are not left with many options on the left wing.
At present, the Merseyside club are seeking deals for Paris Saint-Germain duo Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, while they have also been linked to Brighton and Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh.
It does appear that Gakpo’s move to Spurs rests solely on whether Liverpool can add to their attacking options, as they would be left with only two players that could operate in this position; however, they are not experienced.
Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz would be the only options who could play in this position for Andoni Iraola’s side, with neither having a lot of experience at the highest level, despite the Spaniard winning the 2026 World Cup, but he never came off the bench at the competition.
So, unless Liverpool land their targets in this position, Spurs and De Zerbi may feel Gakpo will not be wearing the white of the London club this season.
