He guided Forest to Europa League football for this season, but a 3-0 home defeat to struggling West Ham before the international break meant rumours over his future had intensified in the days before his sacking.

Speaking on ITV before England's World Cup qualifier against Serbia, former Forest midfielder Keane explained why he has 'no sympathy' for Nuno despite his sacking being for non-performance-based reasons.
"I'm not surprised," Keane began. "Why should we be surprised about what happens at Nottingham Forest? I think we know what the owner's like. No surprises.
"And I've no sympathy for any manager, either, that goes to Forest. Listen, you're going to be under pressure with the owner there. So I certainly wasn't surprised when they moved him on. Yeah, it's tough."
What Forest said about Nuno's sacking
Forest's announcement on their official website regarding Nuno's departure spanned three short paragraphs.

Below the announcement itself, it reads: "The Club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the Club.
"As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey."
