Richard Keys slams Jamie Carragher over Kate Abdo comment and claims he 'crossed the line'

Richard Keys took to social media to share his thoughts on Jamie Carragher's comment to Kate Abdo.

Richard Keys has slammed Jamie Carragher's comment to Kate Abdo during the broadcast of last night's Champions League action.

Carragher, Abdo, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards were at the Emirates for Arsenal's quarter-final second leg clash against Porto on Tuesday.

The Gunners beat their Portuguese counterparts 4-2 on penalties to book their spot in the quarter-finals.

After the match, Carragher received backlash for his controversial joke aimed at Abdo.

The Liverpool legend wore an Arsenal shirt after being asked to do so by Bukayo Saka in his post-match interview.

He then suggested Henry and Abdo should be next to wear the Arsenal shirt on air, prompting an awkward exchange with the CBS Sports host.

Carragher said: "You [Henry] can wear it next and for the last part [of the show] you [Abdo] have got to wear it."

Abdo replied: "No, I'm loyal... before adding "to Manchester United thank you very much," when questioned about her loyalties.

Carragher responded: "You're not loyal to Malik," referencing Abdo's boyfriend Malik Scott.

Abdo fired back: "What? How can you even say that?"

Henry and Richards cut a sheepish reaction to Carragher's joke in a very awkward moment.

Keys took exception to Carragher's comment on CBS Sports as he hit out at the pundit.

The former Sky Sports presenter said Carragher 'crossed the line' and claimed Abdo deserves 'much better'.

On X, he wrote: "I think Kate Abdo is a top pro. I’ve no idea what Carragher is insinuating but he crossed the line again. How many more times? That show is like so many more these days - too ‘pally’. It was an accident waiting to happen. Abdo deserves much better."

The Champions League returns tonight as Carragher is set to return to CBS Sports for games between Borussia Dortmund vs. PSV Eindhoven and Atletico Madrid vs. Inter Milan.
