Rasmus Hojlund and Darwin Nunez's Premier League stats compared as clear winner emerges

Rasmus Hojlund and Darwin Nunez’s performances have been put under the microscope.

Rasmus Hojlund and Darwin Nunez’s Premier League stats have been compared.

Back in the summer of 2022, Uruguayan Nunez joined Liverpool from Portuguese side Benfica in a deal reportedly worth up to €100 million

Since then, the 24-year-old has scored 28 goals in 79 matches, including a fine finish during Saturday's convincing 4-1 win over Brentford.

However, many feel Nunez's numbers should be much higher as he is often criticised for missing big chances.

Meanwhile, Danish international Hojlund joined Manchester United last summer for a reported fee of £64 million.

Despite his early struggles, Hojlund has now scored in six Premier League matches in a row, including a brace in Sunday's 2-1 win over Luton Town.

As two of the highest-profile strikers in the top flight, both Hojlund and Nunez’s stats have been compared.

According to Squawka, Nunez has a total of 16 goal involvements, with Hojlund behind on 9.

However, Hojlund has a better conversion rate of 28% compared to Nunez’s 13.85%. The Uruguayan made history against Chelsea when he managed to hit the woodwork on four occasions.

Nunez is also ahead on chances created, passes completed and successful lay-offs.

United man Hojlund meanwhile comes out on top in take-on success, ground duel success and shot accuracy.

Speaking about Hojlund on Match of the Day 2, former Newcastle and England striker Alan Shearer said: “His all-around game today and has been superb for a while now.

“At times I felt sorry for him because of his transfer fee and the questions that were being asked, how difficult it has been in this United team at times when they’ve not been creating as many chances as they should’ve been.”

He continued: “But the one thing that never changed as the constant was this guy getting into dangerous positions and not being afraid to miss.”
