Oliver Glasner Bombshell Drops Hours Before Crystal Palace Game Amid Man Utd Links

Glasner takes charge of Palace's first European match on Thursday night.

A new update surrounding the future of Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has been released amid reports linking the Austrian with Manchester United.

Glasner is preparing to take charge of Palace's first-ever European fixture when they take on Dynamo Kyiv in Poland on Thursday night.

The Eagles were due to compete in the Europa League but were demoted to the Conference League after UEFA and CAS deemed them to be in breach of multi-club ownership regulations.

They are currently on a 17-match unbeaten run in all competitions and defeated Liverpool 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Glasner is in the final year of his contract at Palace and there has been speculation that he could choose to leave the club next summer.

The Austrian has spoken about rumours linking him with potentially taking over the Manchester United job if Ruben Amorim is sacked, stating earlier this month (via Kicker): "I'm aware of the rumours, but that's all they are. I'm staying neutral and completely calm, concentrating on my daily work with the players and staff, and simply trying to enjoy it."

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday, journalist Ben Jacobs claimed that Glasner would take the United job 'in a heartbeat' if he was to be offered it.

Now, a fresh update on the Austrian has emerged - hours before Palace take on Dynamo Kyiv.

According to BBC Sport, sources 'close to Palace' have claimed that chances of Glasner staying at Selhurst Park are currently 'remote'.

It is suggested that the impending appointment of former Wolves chief Matt Hobbs as sporting director could prove an important factor in whether Glasner stays at the club or not, depending on the amount of influence he will have on transfer matters.

Since leaving LASK in 2019, the 51-year-old has never spent more than two years at a club.

He will pass that mark at Palace in February 2026, with it remaining to be seen whether he will either be in charge at that point - given uncertainty over Amorim's future at United - or after the summer if he commits to fresh terms at Selhurst Park.
