Fans Speechless as Nick Woltemade Scores 'Best Penalty of All Time'

The Newcastle United striker doubled the Magpies' lead against Nottingham Forest.

Nick Woltemade's penalty for Newcastle United against Nottingham Forest has been hailed by fans as among the greatest spot kicks they have ever seen.

Woltemade made the switch from Stuttgart to Newcastle over the summer for an initial reported transfer fee of £65m.

The 23-year-old Germany international arrived to partly fill the boots left by Alexander Isak after the Sweden striker's British record £125m transfer to Liverpool.

Woltemade started this afternoon's Premier League clash at St James' Park as Eddie Howe's side aimed to sign off for the upcoming international break with Premier League victory over Forest, who are currently winless in all competitions under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Magpies took the lead in the second half thanks to a curling effort from midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazilian then turned provider when he was brought down in the box by former Newcastle youngster Elliot Anderson.

Woltemade took the subsequent penalty with a slow run-up before finishing emphatically with a rifled effort into the top right hand corner, which struck the roof of the net and that very few, if any, goalkeepers would be able to save.


The win has seen Newcastle move up to 11th in the top flight table prior to Brentford taking on Manchester City, while Forest are only a point and a place above the drop zone as pressure builds on Postecoglou.

After netting this afternoon, Woltemade has joined esteemed company in Newcastle folklore by becoming only the third player to score in his first three Premier League games for the North East club, joining Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer who achieved the feat in 1995 and 1996 respectively.

Following the impressive feat and in particular the penalty which achieved it, fans have been quick to praise the Germany international.

And some have even gone as far as saying on social media that Woltemade's penalty against Forest is among the 'best of all time'.

One fan posted: "Nick Woltemade with the best penalty of all time."

Another fan agreed and wrote: "That’s outrageous that penalty from Woltemade one of the best I’ve ever seen."

One fan said: "Woltemade with the best weirdest looking penalty I have ever seen."

Another fan posted: "That Woltemade penalty was GORGEOUS."

And one fan simply said: "Woltemade ……..never seen a penalty so beautiful."

When Newcastle return to action after the international break, the Magpies are on the road as they take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium in the Premier League.
