Newcastle player's fiancee tells him to leave the club as it's too 'inconvenient' during shock interview

Newcastle player's fiancee tells him to leave the club as it's too 'inconvenient' during shock interview

The player's fiancee is not fond of Newcastle...

The fiancee of Newcastle goalkeeper Loris Karius has stated in an interview she wants the goalkeeper to move to away from the Premier League side due to not liking the city.

Karius has adapted smoothly to life at Newcastle, taking on the role of third-choice goalkeeper behind Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka.

Despite being third in the pecking order, injuries and unforeseen circumstances have allowed the German to make four appearances for the Toon, including the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United.

Newcastle failed to win the trophy but unlike the 2018 Champions League final, it was not directly at the fault of Karius who performed well after being drafted in to replace the suspended Pope.

Off the field, Karius is engaged to Italian TV presenter Diletta Leotta, with whom he has recently had a daughter, Aria.

In an interview with Italian newspaper Tuttosport Leotta revealed her desire for Karius to switch clubs due to the challenges she is facing raising a family so far away from the goalkeeper."Loris has people at his side who work for him, I hope he makes the best decision for his career," She said.

"I live in Milan, so let's say being close to Milan would be ideal for us. I always tell him, players who come to Serie A then fall in love with Italy and often stay there forever. I think that could happen to him too.

'[He should join] Monza or any other team in Italy. I would be happy if he came to Italy to play near his family," She continued.

She also specifically referred to Newcastle as a geographical issue, with being so far north of places like Manchester and London proving to make traveling difficult for Karius.

"Newcastle is very inconvenient because there are no direct flights. Neither about Paris nor about Amsterdam," She explained.
