Newcastle are struggling with their search for a new striker, having now been rejected by RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.

Newcastle have had a torrid time on their pursuit of a top striker this season despite returning to the Champions League next season.

The Magpies finished fifth in the Premier League but took the final spot thanks to England's strong UEFA coefficient and had intentions of strengthening their squad for the new campaign.

But so far the North East outfit have only been able to bring in Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest for a fee of £55 million, while they are said to be have agreed a loan deal for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Yet the story of Newcastle's transfer window has been one of frustration and rejection, missing out on both Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko and seemingly Yoane Wissa.

There is also the ongoing saga regarding talisman Alexander Isak, who wants to move to Liverpool but saw the Merseysiders have an opening £120 million bid rejected by Newcastle.

Although it has been claimed by Ben Jacobs that a second, improved offer will not arrive, but what other striker alternatives are out there for Newcastle?

Samu Aghehowa

Samu could be a feasible option for Newcastle after a strong first season at Porto, whom he joined from Atletico Madrid last summer. The 21-year-old, who was previously poised to join Chelsea before last-minute details scuppered a move, notched 27 goals in all competitions - including a brace against Manchester United in the Europa League.

Aston Villa have linked and with talk of a £55 million price tag, it could be a route worth exploring for Newcastle.

Alexander Sorloth

A few years back the thought of Newcastle going for a Crystal Palace flop would have been completely uninspiring. A £9 million signing, Sorloth scored just one goal for the Eagles before signing for RB Leipzig.

But in Spain, with Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Atletico, the Norwegian has been on fire and has 66 goals across the last three campaigns.

He notched 24 in all competitions for Atleti last term, including 20 in La Liga.

Arnaud Kalimuendo

Another striker who could fit the profile belongs to Rennes, who also have a prolific poacher in their ranks. Kalimuendo, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, notched 17 times in 33 appearances for a side who finished 12th in Ligue One.

He is being tracked by AC Milan and Brentford but Newcastle could do much worse.

Evann Guessand

Staying in France, Guessand bagged 13 goals and eight assists for Nice in Ligue One as they finished fourth. Palace have been linked, while the Ivory Coast international turned down a switch to Saudi Arabia side Neom SC.

His preference is believed to be a move to Germany or England, which is where Newcastle could come in.

Nick Woltemade

Lastly, another striker who wants to move on this summer is Stuttgart's Woltemade. The Germany international had his heart set on a dream transfer to Bayern Munich but an offer of £47 million was rejected.

The Bundesliga champions do not wish to up their bid but Newcastle could swep in for Woltemade, who scored 17 times in all competitions last term.
