Fans have been stunned as Mason Greenwood scored a penalty with his weak foot for Getafe.

Back in August, it was confirmed that Greenwood and Manchester United have mutually agreed that the 22-year-old would continue his career away from Old Trafford.

Greenwood was the subject of an internal investigation held by United after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped its case against him for attempted rape, assault, and coercive control.

On transfer deadline day, Greenwood confirmed a loan move to Spanish La Liga side Getafe for the 23/24 season.

Since joining the Spanish club, Greenwood has made 22 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and assisting four.

Against Real Betis in a La Liga clash on Sunday, Getafe were awarded a penalty in the eighth minute.

Greenwood stepped up but chose to use his right foot to strike the ball instead of his stronger left.

The 22-year-old sent Betis goalkeeper Rui Silva the wrong way to put his side 1-0 up.

Reacting to the penalty, one fan said on social media: “Mason Greenwood doesn't have a weak foot.”

Another tweeted: “Mason Greenwood!!!! Generational Talent.”

A third fan added: “Greenwood just took a penalty with he's right foot omg. Antony pack your bags abeg.”

Someone else wrote: “Mason Greenwood scores a penalty with his right foot while his dominant foot is leg. This is genius.”

A fifth commented: “Isn't Mason Greenwood a left-footed? Taking a penalty with his weakest foot is insane.”

However, Getafe were denied all three points as former Real Madrid midfielder Isco levelled from 12 yards in the 35th minute, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

On the back of the draw, Getafe are in 10th place in the La Liga table, with Betis in eighth.

During Greenwood's time in Spain, the Englishman has been linked with another club in La Liga.

It has been previously reported that Barcelona are interested in signing the 22-year-old forward when his loan spell with Getafe ends at the end of the 23/24 season.
