A funny moment between Wayne Rooney and Danny Murphy during Match of the Day 2 was caught after the BBC accidentally left the microphones on.
Following the departure of legendary host Gary Lineker, several of the biggest names in football broadcasting have stepped up to lead the BBC's flagship football show, Match of the Day.
Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan were announced as the main ahead of the 2025/26 season, with the trio sharing the lead presenter role across Match of the Day and Match of the Day: Champions League.
Alongside the three lead presenters, several other pundits work on the show as co-hosts, including Manchester United legend Rooney who signed a two-year deal to make regular appearances on the show earlier this year.

Over the weekend, Rooney appeared on the latest episode of Match of the Day 2, but things didn't go perfectly to plan as fans overheard his conversation with fellow pundit Murphy when the microphones were supposed to be switched off.

During Sunday's episode of Match of the Day, Logan, Rooney and Murphy reflected on a busy day of Premier League action with the highlights of five games show including Manchester City's dominant win over Liverpool.
Before moving on to the blockbuster clash at the Etihad Stadium, the trio looked back on the earlier kick-off between Brentford and Newcastle United that saw the Bees take home an unlikely three points thanks to two late goals from striker Igor Thiago.
And it was during the highlights package of the London club's shock home win that the BBC forgot to switch off Logan's microphone, leading to a funny exchange between Rooney and Murphy being broadcast live during the show.
As the show cut out to show the highlights, Rooney can be heard laughing with Murphy after confessing to accidentally calling his fellow pundit earlier during the coverage of Manchester City v Liverpool.
After Rooney's apology and the pair's immediate laughter, Murphy admitted that he had noticed the mistake, saying: "I nearly called you out but I didn't want to stop your rhythm."
Logan then chimed in to reveal she had also noticed the blunder, asking: "You talking about Daniel Sturridge?"
Rooney's mistake comes as he has worked with former Liverpool star and ex-England teammate Sturridge on several occasions throughout the season, likely leading to the confusion,
However, Sturridge was instead working with Sky Sports on Sunday, covering the City win with both Roy Keane and Micah Richards.
