Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay whatever it takes to bring one superstar to the club, but will face competition from one elite European club.

United appeared to get their season back on track with a 2-1 win over Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The result is just their third win from eight matches in the English top flight this season, as they have struggled to find their feet despite bolstering the squad with several big signings during the summer transfer window.

And now, a new report has suggested that United are already planning their next big move in the market, and they are prepared to pay whatever needed to bring the player to Old Trafford,

According to Spanish publication Todofichajes, as reported by TEAMtalk, United are desperate to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies to further boost their back line.

As it stands, the 23-year-old's contract with the German giants is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning that United will be able to begin contract negotiations with him in the new year and finalise a move in the summer when his contract ends.

And with that in mind, United are said to be prepared to offer the left back a blank cheque to boost their chances of securing his signature next year.

Davies would slot perfectly into the starting lineup for the Red Devils, who have struggled to maintain a regular starter in the left-back position due to regular injuries for both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

But United are not the only club said to be interested in signing the talented Canadian, with Real Madrid also monitoring the situation regarding his contract with Bayern.

And unfortunately for United, Davies is said to be eager to move to Spain and join Los Blancos, provoking the English club to offer him the opportunity to choose his own wage as an attempt to lure him away from the La Liga stars.

Should Davies decide to make the move to Old Trafford, he will complete what has been a complete rebuild at the back for United, who brought defenders Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro to the club last summer.
