Sir Alex Ferguson has been banned from doing ONE thing at Manchester United after INEOS terminated his contract.

Ferguson will leave his role as Man United ambassador at the end of the season.

He has been paid a multi-million pound fee by the club since his retirement as manager in 2013.

The legendary boss acted as a global ambassador and club director and was regularly seen at games and retains a seat in the directors' box at Old Trafford.

But INEOS - headed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe - has axed the 82-year-old from his role as they look to slash costs in order to invest more money in the team.

A new report has now revealed that Ferguson and the Man United board have been asked NOT to enter the dressing room - breaking a tradition that stretches back to the days of Sir Matt Busby.

He will no longer enter the 'inner sanctum' following matches as part of a change in policy.

Per the report, Man United deny that they have directly banned Ferguson from the changing room but say there is now a 'collective understanding' over who goes inside.

Visits to the dressing room have been part of the club's culture for decades.

Ferguson and fellow board members David Gill and Mike Edelson were always welcome, not to mention the late duo Sir Bobby Charlton and Maurice Watkins.

Ferguson won 38 trophies in 26 years at Man United.

He signed a deal following his retirement in 2013 to continue as global club ambassador and director.

Since INEOS took charge of football operations at Man United, over 250 staff members have been made redundant - with Ferguson being the biggest casualty by some distance.

Man United, meanwhile, are currently 14th in the Premier League, having already lost three league games this season.
