Ruben Amorim says he already 'loves' Man Utd star and believes he will thrive under his tactics

Ruben Amorim is a big fan of the Manchester United star.

Ruben Amorim is already in 'love' with a Manchester United star and has revealed that he has 'two positions' for him in his system.

Amorim oversaw his first Man United training sessions this week ahead of leading his new side against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

And, on Friday, he fielded questions from the assembled media ahead of taking charge of his first game.

During his pre-match press conference, Amorim spoke extremely highly of Mason Mount and believes he'll thrive under his tactics.

"Mason Mount... I have to tell you I love that kid," he told the club's official website.

"You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.

"I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he’s trying to stay fit and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he’s shown, for example, in Chelsea."

The 39-year-old backed Mount to succeed in his system, adding: "He played in this system [before], so it’s perfect for him.

"I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!"

Mount has only managed six appearances across all competitions this season, having been blighted with a series of injuries.

He returned to full training at the start of the month and could be a vital figure under Amorim's Man United era.

The Portuguese gaffer could employ a 3-4-3 formation, which has dominated the talk ahead of the Ipswich match, but he insists that more emphasis should be placed on the principles rather than how they set up.

"A lot of people talk about the 3-4-3 and the 4-3-3 and all that stuff," he continued.

"But when I think as a player or as a team-mate of Manchester United, it is not a system or formation, it's like the character of the players, the way they see the club.

"So, we have to focus on that before the everything of how we play, how we press. The most important thing for me at this moment is to create the principles, the identity and the character that we had in the past."
