Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media after seeing Ruben Amorim work closely with one player.

Last week, the 39-year-old former Sporting Clube de Portugal boss officially began his tenure as United's new head coach after replacing Dutchman Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag was dismissed last month after a 2-1 Premier League defeat by West Ham United at the London Stadium.

On Monday, Amorim took charge of his first training session as United boss, working with players who were not selected to play for their country in the international break.

In a video posted on social media, Amorim was seen in conversation with young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

The Portuguese was seen gesturing to the Englishman, presumably telling the 19-year-old how to adapt to his style of play.

Reacting to the exchange between Amorim and Mainoo, one fan said on social media: "Is that you Pep."

Another tweeted: "Am seriously seeing Pep vibes here and fingers crossed Utd might get same rewards."

A third fan added: "Good. Picked up on Mainoos biggest weakness straight away. Oh this guy is taking us back to the top."

Someone else wrote: "Manchester United just got themselves a real coach."

A fifth commented: "This one means business ohh."

Another fan said: "We missed this.............a proper coach, brought a smile to my face."

During his first interview with the club, Amorim explained what he wants the fans to see in his first match in charge, which is going to be against Ipswich Town this weekend.

Amorim said: "I think you will see an idea. You could like it or not, I don't know, but you will see an idea.

"You will see a positioning. You will see something that we want to reach that kind of level. You will feel that."

He added: "We have to know that it's like two trainings before the first match. This is the best league in the world. But if I have to say something to you, [it's that] you will see an idea. This I can guarantee."
