Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offer Rasmus Hojlund in a swap deal for a highly-rated former Premier League star.

It's no secret that United are looking to sign a new striker in the summer to replace Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who have both disappointed when given the chance to start up front.

Wolves star Matheus Cunha appears to be the frontrunner to take over as United's number nine, leaving questions over the future of United's current young strikers.

However, we may finally have an answer to these questions, as a new report has revealed that United are considering parting ways with Hojlund as part of a swap deal for a former Premier League star.

Although Cunha may be the priority signing for United when the transfer window opens in June, he may not be the only forward to come to Old Trafford this summer.

Previous reports have suggested that Ipswich Town's Liam Delap has also attracted interest from United, but now the Red Devils are said to be considering a sensational swap deal for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.

According to a report from The Sun, United are prepared to offer a partial swap deal that would see Hojlund return to his former club in exchange for Lookman arrive at Old Trafford.

Following spells in the Premier League with Everton, Fulham and Leicester City, Lookman has gone on to establish himself as one of the best wingers in European football at the Serie A side.

In 114 appearances for the Italian club, Lookman has scored 50 goals and assisted 24, and was their key player last season after leading them to the glory in the Europa League, scoring a hat-trick in the final.

This season alone, the Nigerian international has scored 18 goals and assisted seven across 36 appearances in all competitions.

However, following several public disputes with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini this season, it looks likely that Looman will depart the club this summer, providing a perfect opportunity for United.

Despite a lacklustre spell with United, which has seen him score just three times in 28 league appearances this season, Hojlund has been regularly linked with a return to his former club, who remain in touch with the 22-year-old's representatives.

The Danish international spent just one season with Atalanta, before joining United in a huge £72million move in August 2023.
