Man Utd fans slam Marcus Rashford for role he played in Arsenal's second goal as damning footage emerges

Manchester United fans were less than impressed with what Marcus Rashford did before Arsenal scored their second goal.

The Gunners welcomed Ruben Amorim's Red Devils to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night as they bid to close the gap to leaders Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta's men came away 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, with both benefitting from Arsenal's now famous corner routine.

As a result of the victory, Arsenal are now only seven points behind Liverpool, who dropped two precious points after drawing 3-3 against Newcastle United.

During the match against Arsenal, United fans were less than impressed after footage showed Rashford giving away a corner cheaply, which Saliba scored from in the 72nd minute.

Rashford had the ball at his feet by the corner flag and was being challenged by Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

The Englishman then appear to try and flick the ball up in a bid to clear the ball but ended up kicking the ball behind for a corner. You can watch the footage below.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "Rashford giving away the second corner goal, I’m done."

Another tweeted: "Anyone can make mistakes, but he didn’t show enough in the game after that mistake."

A third fan added: "Did he really just try to pull of a flick right there."

However, some had sympathy for Rashford, claiming that he slipped.

Someone wrote: "He slipped. Move on."

A fifth commented: "He slipped.. It happens…"

Speaking after the match, Amorim stated that the set pieces changed the game.

He said: "We already knew that it would be a tough game. I think the corners changed the game, the set-pieces. Then we lost the momentum, we tried everything then to control the game again.

"You feel it in the first half, in the environment of the stadium, that we were causing problems. We need to improve in a lot of areas of our game, but we were controlling the game."

United are back in action this weekend when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
