Zlatan Ibrahimovic gives surprising Glazer family view, Manchester United fans won't like it

It's fair to say that the Glazer family are not the most popular people with Manchester United fans.

The current ownership has been in charge of the Old Trafford club since 2005 when they purchased United via a heavily leveraged buyout at a cost of £800 million.

Last November, it appeared that the American family's ownership of the club which had spanned almost two decades might come to an end as it was announced they were exploring "strategic alternatives" with the prospect of a potential sale.

Over the coming months, two parties emerged as frontrunners in the bidding process, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS firm seeking majority investment, while Qatari Sheikh Jassim seeking a complete takeover.

However, no takeover has ultimately materialised and the Glazers continue to own the Old Trafford club, with no sign they will seek to sell United any time soon.

The legend that is Zlatan Ibrahimovic played for United between 2016 and 2018, when Jose Mourinho was in charge at Old Trafford.

He scored 29 goals in 53 games during his time at United, before leaving to play for LA Galaxy in the MLS.

Ibrahimovic recently pulled down the curtain on his remarkable playing career this summer at the age of 41.

United fans have launched demonstrations against the Glazers' continued ownership of the club, including marches and banners against them in the crowd and also aerial ones towed behind light aircraft.

But former United striker Ibrahimovic has reminded fans that the Glazers are continuing to invest big transfer fees in players, with just this summer funding the purchases of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

And he believes supporters are wrong to claim the Glazers are not spending money at Old Trafford, as owners should do.

Speaking to Piers Morgan, he said: "I think now in United, there are some kind of demonstrations about the owners to sell it.

"But just a reminder - the owners are investing. It's not like they're not investing, because they brought in many players for a high amount of money, so I think it's a little bit wrong saying that they're not doing what the fans expect them to do.

"I don't know what the real reason is behind everything."

"The owners are investing and have brought in many players for high amounts of money!" 👀

"It is wrong to say that they are not doing what their fans expect them to do." 🤷‍♂️
