Sofyan Amrabat's agent gives Liverpool hope over hijacking Man Utd's bid for midfielder

Sofyan Amrabat's agent gives Liverpool hope over hijacking Man Utd's bid for midfielder

Jurgen Klopp is keen to add another midfielder to his squad this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly firm favourites to sign Sofyan Amrabat this summer, but Liverpool aren't out of the race just yet - that's if his agent's comments are anything to go by.

On Monday, the Red Devils allegedly reached an agreement with Fiorentina to sign Amrabat, with a medical already scheduled at Carrington Training Centre, according to Moroccan journalist Izem Anass.

Erik ten Hag has already added Mason Mount and Andre Onana to his ranks this summer for a combined fee of £102.5 million. But the United boss is thought to want another midfielder and Ambrabat looks to fit the bill nicely.

Jurgen Klopp is also in the market for midfield recruits after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, James Milner and Arthur Melo all left the club following the expiration of their contracts.

Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have been heavily rumoured with moves to the Saudi Pro League, leaving the Reds in dire need of reinforcements.

Indeed, Amrabat had been touted as a potential option. However, the 26-year-old reportedly turned down a move to Anfield in favour of joining United, according to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera.

Amrabat's agent has since given Liverpool renewed hope, though, stating that United aren't the only club the Morocco international would be open to moving to this summer.

Amrabat's agent gives Liverpool transfer hope

Amrabat's agent, Mahmoud El Boustati, has claimed that the World Cup semi-finalist would be interested in a move to up to 'three clubs' this summer, as the midfielder weighs up his options.

"Quite a few clubs are interested in Sofyan," El Boustati told Dutch publication Voetbal Primeur on Tuesday.

"It is now a matter of making the right choice. He is still just a Fiorentina player and he reported to Fiorentina on Monday.

"If something interesting comes up, Sofyan is open to the step, Fiorentina too. There are two, three clubs that he is open to."

Liverpool are also chasing Romeo Lavia's signature and saw a £37m rejected by Southampton on Tuesday, with the Championship club reportedly seeking £50m for their prized midfielder.
