Clear Favourite to Replace Ruben Amorim at Man Utd Emerges After Wolves Draw

The bookmakers have had their say on who could succeed the Portuguese at Old Trafford.

A clear favourite has emerged with the bookmakers to succeed Ruben Amorim at Manchester United if the Old Trafford club opts to make a change in the dugout.

Amorim has been the United head coach since November 2024 when he left Sporting Lisbon in his native Portugal to replace the sacked Erik ten Hag.

However, it has been an up and down time at Old Trafford since Amorim's arrival, with United finishing last season 15th in the Premier League and losing the Europa League final 1-0 at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

That has meant no European football of any form for United this campaign as they seek to improve upon last season's dismal outcome.

At present, United sit sixth in the Premier League table, which may be enough to secure a place in the Europa League next season.

There is also the prospect of playing in the Champions League again next season if a top four - or possibly even a top five - finish is secured.

However, United have dropped countless points this season on numerous occasions which could have elevated them further up the table.

And two more were dropped earlier this week when Amorim's side drew 1-1 at Old Trafford against the Premier League's bottom side Wolves, who registered only their third point of the campaign and are yet to win a game.

United took the lead before the half-hour mark thanks to a heavily deflected finish from Joshua Zirkzee.

But Ladislav Krejci levelled for Wolves just before half-time to ensure the spoils would be shared.

Patrick Dorgu thought he had scored a late winner for United before full-time, but the strike did not count after the assistant referee flagged for offside and a VAR review confirmed the decision was the correct one.

Amorim's side are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United.

Should United opt to make a change in the Old Trafford dugout, the bookmakers have installed a heavy favourite to succeed Amorim following the draw against Wolves and the man in question currently manages another Premier League side.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has odds of 2/1 to be the next United manager according to BetVictor, with former United players Laurent Blanc and Michael Carrick both 6/1.

Ex-England boss Gareth Southgate and former Barcelona coach Xavi have odds of 8/1.

Palace boss Glasner is out of contract with the Eagles at the end of this season but is yet to make it clear if he will be remaining with the London club beyond that.

If he does leave Palace at the end of the campaign, any club seeking to employ him would not have to pay any financial package to the Selhurst Park outfit in order to have his services, making him an attractive option.

Palace are also reported to have drawn up a list of possible replacements, should the Austrian end up departing the club.

Speaking last month, Glasner confirmed that contract extension talks with Palace have been pushed back amid a busy schedule.

He said (via Sky Sports): "There's no time. Believe me, I'm never thinking about my future right at the moment. It's not important right now.

"I know there are so many rumours. But I don't know how many clubs I managed in the last three months and I'm still sitting here.

"As soon as we will take a decision, number one, the players will hear it, and, number two, [the media] will hear it."
