Man United instantly sanction £92m DOUBLE signing after losing Europa League final against Tottenham

Ruben Amorim may look to bolster his squad after an awful first season at Man United.

Manchester United are set to sanction two transfers following their Europa League final defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening (May 21).

Ruben Amorim watched on in disbelief as Brennan Johnson’s first-half strike was enough to secure Spurs’ first trophy since 2008 with a 1-0 win over Man United in the Europa League final at Sam Mames in Bilbao.

As a result, United will not take part in UEFA European competition next season, which comes at a huge financial cost and could hamper their ability to attract players to the club.

With the Red Devils currently 16th in the Premier League with one game remaining, following last night’s defeat, questions were put to Amorim, 40, about his future, even though he only replaced Erik ten Hag in November 2024.

"I am not going to talk about the future,” Amorim explained after the match.

Although he went on to reveal his stance on his current situation.

"I have nothing to show to the fans," he added. "So, in this moment it is a little bit of faith.

"Let's see. I am always open. If the board and fans feel I am not the right guy, I will go in the next day without any conversation about compensation.

"But I will not quit. I am really confident in my job. And as you see, I will not change anything in the way I do things."

So, if Amorim does stay, he will need to improve his squad quickly.

Just hours after United’s crushing defeat, the MEN reported that United are ready to sanction two signings worth a combined £92.5m.

The outlet claims that the club are “optimistic” about a potential move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha, with the Brazilian said to have a £62.5m release clause in his contract.

Cunha, 25, has produced 17 goals and six assists in 35 appearances for the Midlands side this season and will likely move on this summer.

Meanwhile, United are also targeting Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who has a £30m release clause in his contract, which was activated due to the Tractor Boys’ relegation from the Premier League.

Delap, a Manchester City academy graduate, has registered 12 goals and two assists in 39 appearances this term and is also attracting interest from Chelsea and Newcastle United.
