A Manchester United fan has come up with a plan for how Erik ten Hag can avoid being 'humiliated' by Manchester City on the weekend.

Pep Guardiola's side travel to Old Trafford on Sunday for the latest Manchester derby, with bragging rights up for grabs in the city.

Ten Hag will be hoping to make it four wins in a row in all competitions, after getting the better of FC Copenhagen 1-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

But they are unlikely to find it easy against a Manchester City side fresh off winning the treble last season.

United super-fan Mark Goldbridge insisted that not one Red Devils players would currently make it into City's starting XI, admitting it is a "terrible reflection" on his club.

However, one Reddit user has come up with a team who they believe could steal a result at Old Trafford.

Instead of playing Ten Hag's usual 4-3-3 formation, they have gone with five at the back, consisting of Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot and Sergio Reguilon.

While they have opted for a midfield three including Sofyan Amrabat, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen.

Instead of using traditional wingers, the team deploys Bruno Fernandes as a support striker for Rasmus Hojlund, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Antony not making the cut.

Explaining the formation, the post read: "Potential out the box 11 for city? Antony and Rashford have basically offered nothing this season.

"Pack the centre of the pitch. Try steal something. Just want to avoid another humiliation tbh.

"Not a perfect 11 I know but the way we’ve been playing if we go with our usual lineup I can see us getting torn to shreds."

What do you make of the team, United fans?
