Manchester United have been approached by the representatives of a former Premier League striker regarding a potential move to OId Trafford, according to a new report.

After a lacklustre campaign that featured just 44 goals in 38 Premier League games, United are likely to sign a centre forward in the coming months as they continue their rebuild under Ruben Amorim.

However, there is a real shortage of top quality strikers on the market. Chelsea appear to have won the race to sign Liam Delap and are currently in the final stages of negotiations with the 22-year-old, who is available for just £30 million.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have made progress in their bid to sign highly-rated RB Leizpig striker Benjamin Sesko, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Gunners have "started initial concrete talks" for the Slovenian international.

And earlier this week, it emerged that Liverpool are “seriously” in the running to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to Sky reporter Florian Plettenburg.

So, what about United? Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford – and a potential reunion with Ruben Amorim could well be an attractive prospect coming into the new campaign.

But an unexpected proposition emerged on Friday night.

United are said to be one of the clubs to have been approached by the representatives of former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham over a possible transfer, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

The report claims United have been informed about the player’s willingness to move, although a number of other Premier League clubs are showing an interest, including Newcastle United, Everton, and West Ham.

Abraham, meanwhile, remains under contract with Serie A side Roma until 2027 but after spending last season on loan at AC Milan, his future looks uncertain.

The 27-year-old, who joined Roma from Chelsea for a club record fee of £34 million in 2021, scored 17 goals in his debut Serie A season – a record high for an Englishman. He also received an England call-up during that time.

He recorded 10 goals and seven assists in 45 games across all competitions for Milan in 2024/25, but the club are 'unlikely to make a move permanent' following their signing of Santiago Gimenez, according to Bailey.

Do you think Abraham would be a good signing for United amid their troubles in front of goal? Let us know in the comments.
