Man Utd legend names two players Erik ten Hag needs to sign including 'brilliant' Premier League star

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has named two players that he believes manager Erik ten Hag must sign this summer.

Yorke joined United in the summer of 1998 after United paid £12.6 million to sign him from Aston Villa.

The arrival of the Trinidad and Tobago international helped to take United's strikeforce to the next level under Sir Alex Ferguson, and Yorke formed a lethal strike partnership with Andy Cole.

In his first season, Yorke famously helped United to win the treble, with Ferguson's side becoming the first English team to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League all in the same season.

And while any new signing next summer wouldn't be expected to deliver the same at Old Trafford, Yorke has identified two players who he believes can replicate his own impact and help take United to the next level - in the short term at least.

He told Gambling Zone (quotes via Football365): "I think we need a number nine, somebody up there with a little bit more Premier League experience.

"A good player, like Son Heung-min, for me would be brilliant. He's not like Harry Kane but he's still got energy and brings so many goals.

"Someone like him would attract me very much to go and get.

"These clubs are all competing, and to get those kinds of players will be difficult, especially if United don't get the Champions League next season.

"I'm not sure how old Frenkie de Jong is, but I think he'd give us that X-factor that we need in midfield and a little bit of creativity, which he's capable of doing, as well as adding legs in midfield.

"He ticks all the boxes, and I think the combination of him and [Kobbie] Mainoo would be a fabulous one to look forward to next season."
