Man Utd fans have finally reached their limit with one player and want him gone after Tottenham defeat

Manchester United fans have made their feelings clear following their defeat against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.

Ruben Amorim recalled Alejandro Garnacho to the match day squad but there was still no place for Marcus Rashford who admitted he was ready to leave the club during a bombshell interview earlier this week.

Amorim claimed his omission was purely down to ‘selection’ and admitted he was pleased with Garnarcho’s performances in training after being dropped for the Manchester derby.

Nevertheless, the Argentine, who returned to the side from the bench, was unable to prevent United from crashing out of the cup.

Ange Postecoglou’s side took an early lead through Dominic Solanke after some suspect goalkeeping from Altay Bayindir and doubled their advantage through Dejan Kulusevski shortly after half-time.

Solanke secured his brace just ten minutes later and United fans were all left pointing the finger in the same direction with Lisandro Martinez receiving heavy criticism on social media for his role in the Spurs goals.

Gary Neville described his clearance as ‘whimpish’ in the build-up to Kulusevski’s finish and fans have also made their feelings clear.

One fan said: “Martinez having an absolute stinker! Shocking defending. Cost us the game”

Another added: “People won’t want to hear it but Martinez has been poor for months, had a great game in the Derby but apart from that he’s looked very suspect for a long time. Nothing like his first season self.”

A third said: “He needs to become a squad player if we’re honest, not good enough to win a league title.”

A fourth added: “I would sell him in the summer. I know he'd need replacing but frankly, even in his first year he had moments where he looked suspect. He's just not top 4 prem quality and cannot be trusted.”

A fifth concluded: “Not been the same since the injury, think we probably need a new LCB in the summer.”

United nearly staged a late comeback thanks to mistakes from Tottenham back-up goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

The ex-Southampton man passed the ball straight to Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee was able to turn the ball home. Minutes later he took too long on a clearance and Amad's sliding tackle ended up in the back of the net much to the dismay of Postecoglou.

With minutes left on the clock, Son Heung-min scored directly from a corner with Bayindir left furious claiming he was fouled in the area but with no VAR the referee's original decision stood.

Jonny Evans netted late into injury time to add to the drama but Spurs managed to hang on for victory in a chaotic affair.

Tottenham join Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle in the semi-final draw.
