Sofyan Amrabat raised eyebrows with his performance against Crystal Palace, Erik ten Hag will be taking notes

He impressed.

Sofyan Amrabat was among the best players on the pitch as Manchester United eased past a lacklustre Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

United dispatched Palace 3-0 on Tuesday night, courtesy of goal from Alejandro Garnacho, player of the match Casemiro and Anthony Martial.

And should Amrabat replicate his performance against the south Londoners across the remainder of the season, it will provide Erik ten Hag with a welcomed boost.

The Morocco international only made his United debut last Friday in the club's 1-0 against Burnley, having joined in the summer carrying a pre-existing injury.

And while Amrabat did not have sufficient time to make an impact against the Clarets, against Palace the 27-year-old was phenomenal.

Tuesday's Carabao Cup encounter saw Amrabat, a holding midfielder, start the game at left-back where his direct adversary was the jewell of Palace's academy, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

Amrabat nullified any of the threat posed by the 20-year-old, who was hooked at half time. Meanwhile, the United loanee drifted into midfield throughout, providing extra support to Casemiro and Hannibal Mejbri before being substituted after an hour.

The Moroccan's hybrid role saw him impress the Old Trafford faithful, as well as former United centre-back Steve Bruce in the Sky Sports studio.

The 62-year-old said: "Amrabat looks a player. I don't know whether he's playing left-back, central midfielder - but he looks a player!"

United signed Amrabat from Fiorentina on Transfer Deadline Day on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

United will pay £8.5million (€10million) to take the player on loan with an option to make the deal permanent for £21.4million (€25million).

The Morocco international first came to wider attention after starring for his country at last year's World Cup, where Morocco finished fourth.
