Stadium designer shows how new Man Utd stadium could look if Old Trafford is demolished by Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been urged to demolish Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium.

A stadium designer has shown how a new stadium for Manchester United could look if Sir Jim Ratcliffe demolishes Old Trafford.

British petrochemicals billionaire Ratcliffe finally completed a deal to purchase a minority stake in United.

His Ineos group have paid £1.25bn to buy 25 per cent of the club from the much-maligned Glazer family.

United confirmed the new on Christmas Eve, but there will be a six-to-eight week period before Ratcliffe takes full control of footballing operations.

Ratcliffe has his work cut out given the mess United are currently in but one of the pressing issues is the club's stadium.

Old Trafford has been United's home for 113 years and is nicknamed the 'Theatre of Dreams' but recently opposition fans have been singing about the ground "falling down".

A leaking roof has been one of the main problems regarding the outdated stadium and 18 months ago a survey was put out to fans asking for their thoughts.

United have appointed a team of leading consultants to begin work on creating a "masterplan" for the redevelopment of Old Trafford

The club brought in Populous, the architects of Spurs' stadium, and Legends International.

According to The Telegraph, there are three options are in the table - one being for a completely new stadium.

Chris Lee, Populous' chief executive, has urged the club to knock down Old Trafford and build a new stadium on the land in the surrounding area, while revealing that there “recognition within the club that something has to be done”.

YouTuber Bondibot put their creative skills to the test and mocked up a design of what a state-of-the-art stadium would look like.

The modern ground, similar to Spurs' new home, would be right next to Old Trafford and accompanied by a brand new training ground too.

Ratcliffe has pledged £237 million to go towards infrastructure but a complete rebuild is expected to cost around £2 billion.
