Ruben Amorim says he wants to keep Man Utd player at Old Trafford but admits he could leave this month

The United manager has left the door open for a potential exit.

Ruben Amorim gave his honest thoughts on the future of one of his players after Manchester United secured a well-earned point in their Premier League clash against Liverpool.

It was a game full of big moments on Sunday as second-half goals from Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo sealed what was an entertaining 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes were singled out for their performances against Arne Slot's side, while Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui performed admirably at wing-back.

And for many watching at home, one of the big highlights was the introduction of Joshua Zirkzee – just days after he was booed off by his own fans after being substituted midway through their clash against Newcastle.

It has been a tough week for the Dutch forward but with 86 minutes played, he was given a rapturous reception from the travelling away support, who could be heard chanting "Ooh, Joshua Zirkzee".

Moments later, Zirkzee squared a pass to Harry Maguire but the centre-back blazed over the bar.

Speaking after the full-time whistle, United head coach Ruben Amorim was asked if Zirkzee made the right or wrong decision to pass to Maguire.

“For me, I think it was the perfect decision, because he can shoot but he put the ball more in the centre for one guy is running back," he said. “The ball I think was really slow for Harry to score, but sometimes you can not do it.

“But Josh made a good decision in my opinion.”

Amorim was also asked about Zirkzee's future. Earlier this week, a report from Italian outlet Tuttosport claimed Zirkzee is 'more open than ever' to the possibility of a potential loan move to Juventus in January.

Juve, meanwhile, are said to be 'interested' in making it happen. In fact, the report also suggests that an obligation to buy clause could be inserted into a deal as part of the initial loan.

After the Liverpool game, Amorim confirmed that he wants to keep Zirkzee at Old Trafford but he also left the door open for a potential exit.

“I want to keep Josh because he gives everything and he’s trying in training but we don’t know," Amorim said.

“The window is open and we will see what happens. We just need to focus on training and to take this for the other games. It’s just one point so let’s focus on the performance for the next games."
