Footage of Man Utd's new goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital has emerged and it's got fans talking

Vital will join Amorim and the rest of his coaching staff at Old Trafford.

A clip of Manchester United's new goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital has resurfaced ahead of his first training session at Carrington.

Ruben Amorim and five of his backroom staff arrived in Manchester on Monday morning as they prepare to take on the challenge of turning things around at Old Trafford.

It appears Amorim will bring five of his key staff from Sporting – assistant manager Carlos Fernandes, assistant coaches Emanuel Ferro and Adelio Candido, goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital and sports scientist Paulo Barreira.

Vital, who started working with Amorim at Braga before moving to Sporting in 2020, is renowned in Portugal for his training methods.

In fact, the 63-year-old, who played for Sporting and Gil Vicente during a 20-year playing career, has been described as somewhat of a specialist when it comes to distribution – something United have struggled with in the not-so-distant past.

As Amorim and his staff prepare for their first training session at Carrington, training ground footage of Vital with a group of goalkeepers from Sporting has gone viral.

As you can see in the footage below, an extremely vocal Vital can be seen going through a drill with Sporting goalkeeper Franco Israel, who was in his early 20's at the time.

Here's how fans have reacted to the clip.

One said: "Best thing about this is when he told the keeper "another chicken" after his first mistake - basically saying oh look another howler - albeit (frango - chicken) it's a lot worse than a howler."

A second wrote: "That was Franco Israel in his early days at the club. His improvement has been gradual but how he looks this season is night and day in previous ones, fantastic work they’ve done with him. Onana is gonna get plenty to chew on with this staff considering some of his antics."

A third commented: "Jorge Vital will be vital at improving Onana and Altay Bayındır's shot stoppage numbers," and a fourth wrote: "Onana is in trouble."

A fifth added: "Don't really have high hopes for him. I know talent matters but I think one of Sporting's biggest weakness was their keeper and I thought the new gk coach was doing a really good job with Onana but let's see I guess."

For the time being, Amorim will not be able to oversee United training while his visa is being approved. It is expected that this will be granted next week, according to the Manchester Evening News.
