Manchester United fans have named the one player who was 'like a new signing' in their pre-season friendly win over Rangers.

Erik ten Hag's side won their second friendly of the summer 2-0, with goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill arriving either side of half-time.

It was another good runout for United, who welcomed back Jadon Sancho for his first appearance since August and included new signing Leny Yoro for his debut.

Yoro impressed fans with his passing and tackling in the first half, and he was replaced at half-time by midfielder Maxi Oyedele.

It was another United player, though, that equally caught the eye - goalscorer Amad.

His first half strike saw him cut in from the right flank before bending an effort into the corner, and United fans are desperate to see the Ivorian given more game time this season.

He played nine Premier League games for Ten Hag's side last term, scoring once, and netted the winning goal in United's thrilling 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford in March.

And in response to his performance at Murrayfield on Saturday, fans were full of praise for the winger - who spent a period on loan at Rangers during the 2021/22 season - and his development.

One wrote: "Amad on the right is genuinely as good as a new signing. He's that much of an upgrade on Antony."

A second agreed: "Massive season for him ahead, gonna see a lot more of him."

A third mused: "Not being funny but Amad is genuinely Manchester United's best winger, he's so smart and agile, just needs a tad more core strength to ride tackles."

And a fourth said: "Amad deserves a reasonable amount of game time next season regardless of whether or not we sign a winger this summer.

"He's currently our best right winger and can become an important player for us."
