Alejandro Garnacho surprises young Man Utd fans with new shirt after they bought the wrong number, he is a class act

This why United fans love him.

Alejandro Garnacho surprised two young Manchester United fans with his new number 17 shirt after they bought the wrong one.

On Friday, Garnacho's brother, Roberto, announced that the winger would wear the No. 17 shirt for the rest of the 2023/24 campaign. He posted pictures of the pair both wearing 'Garnacho 17' jerseys on social media, alongside the caption "AG17", all but confirming the Argentine's new number.

Garnacho has worn the No. 49 shirt since making his senior debut in United's 1-1 draw against Chelsea last year.

There had been speculation that the 19-year-old could succeed boyhood hero Cristiano Ronaldo and take the No. 7 shirt at Old Trafford. However, new £55 million signing Mason Mount was given that privilege, instead.

Meanwhile, some supporters simply couldn't wait to find out the former Atletico Madrid man's new squad number, with two particular fans buying Garnacho's current No. 49 shirt and the No. 7 shirt to cover all bases.

Little did they know that he was set to be given a different number entirely. But Garnacho heard about the mix-up and decided to buy them his new No. 17 shirt and deliver it to them personally.

In return, Garnacho was gifted friendship bracelets for him and his family, along with a homemade card.

It was widely believed that United's big-money signing Rasmus Hojlund would get the number 17 shirt following the departure of Fred, who has joined Turkish side Fenerbahce.

However, it looks like Hojlund could be handed the number 11 shirt previously occupied by Mason Greenwood, who left United in August following a six-month investigation into his conduct, with the Englishman joining Getafe on a season-long loan on deadline day.
